Since its creation in 1975, with the farm of the Magic Cauldron, we do not cease believing in agro-ecology. Why?
Simply because we think that to bring agronomy closer to ecology, it is possible!
Indeed their skilful combination brings long-term solutions to the problems of current agriculture.

And the reasons which push us to continue imperturbably and inlassablement our advance in this way of working and to act do not miss. Here some of our explanations supported and especially founded on our observations and permanent research.

For us agro ecology it is:

- A calm and given will to find practical solutions.
- An observation has patience at the same time scientific and sensitive of sometimes unperceivable changes.
- To reflect and act on all the links of the food chain (fields, plants, herds, consumptions human).
- A long-term attitude and really durable.

In fact it is especially an interior and pressing need.

After more than 30 years of experience, we do not advance these remarks with the light one since our principal tool is the attentive observation of the grounds (the ground, the insects, ground worms, the mushrooms …), of the plants (cultivated and adventitious) and of the pets, and that today the results are well there.

Let us take the example of all that is free, natural and beneficial for our various cultures and productions since the fields until the food consumption of us, the human ones, while passing by our producing animals.

The work of the grounds can be entrusted to the ground worms well which with him only are a true ploughman. To the Farm of the Magic Cauldron, in the 30 years space, the tonnage of the ground worm passed 300 kg to 3 tons to the hectare. When it is known that the ground worm nourishes plants (remains harvests and especially roots), we can affirm that we think of this fact that it is possible to remove work on the ground and the pesticides.

For a natural fertility of the grounds, why use artificial fertilisers if we do know the benefits of the humus (or organic matter)? It should be noted that in nature, (forests and fields) the humus comes from cellulose of the plants (stems + sheets + roots) and that in the forest, where it accounts for approximately 15% of the ground and in the fields, since a hundred years, its quantity strongly dropped in the whole world, reaching very low rates of about 0.5 to 2%. On the other hand, to the farm of the Magic Cauldron, for 30 years, this rate has assembled each year thanks to the progressive abolition of the work of the ground, with its permanent cover even in winter and with the contributions of manure in each piece every 3 years.
It is the same for the manures. Ours never are not sold but are restored with the grounds which liberally gave us harvests. Our manures are our basic manure besides!

And if all the cultures need nitrogen to push (nitrate NO3), it is disturbing to see that since a hundred years, the farmers buy industrially produced nitrate at great cost.
Indeed, a natural alternative to this system exists: the leguminous plants are able to get it in symbiosis with fixing bacteria of the nitrogen ground of the air in the form of natural nitrate: the alfalfa, the clover, the bean, the pea, the field bean, the tare, the acacia, the lenses …
And all plants are also rich in proteins.
This is why with the farm of the Magic Cauldron we cultivate many leguminous plants, either only, or associated with a plant which cannot produce its nitrogen, but which receives it leguminous plant. For example, the graminaceous ones like cereals.
In conclusion: since the air contains nitrogen 79% (NR) and that the nitrogen of the air is free, we have just stated here what it was necessary to show. Namely that one can really do without the purchase of industrial nitrate.

A last bracket in connection with the oligoéléments which play an important role in the balance of the living beings.
Their use enabled us to find the natural strength of the ground, the plants and the animals.
Our personal example: the roots go down now to more than 1.6 meter in our grounds and our dairy goats produce longer.

In short of this small synthesis on our way of reviving the ground with the farm of the Magic Cauldron,
we leave it to you to read what follows.

Main issues of agriculture known as modern and solutions adopted with the Magic Cauldron:

* The erosion (ground which leaves with water, the wind …)
- the direct drilling with a minimum of the work of the ground (even none)
- the permanent cover of the ground.

* The loss of humus and life of the grounds
- contribution of the manure of our breedings
- vegetable sowings of cover between two principal harvests

* The pollution of the grounds and harvests.
- abandonment of the pesticides (on seeds, cultures …).

* Dependence of agrochemicals, seed-bearer, and oil.
- total abandonment of the artificial fertilisers
- self-production of our seeds
- reduction of 70% of the consumption of diesel by ecological techniques
- plant oil self-production for our vehicles (sunflower, colza)

* The list could still continue. These problems are complex!
And one cannot all regulate of a blow of magic wand.
